How to Prepare
Health
India requires and maintains a very similar vaccine list as the U.S. Health concerns while traveling to India are generally manageable with a few simple precautions to keep yourself healthy and safe.
Check out the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) website for guidance on which vaccines you may want to stay up to date on.
Malaria
The CDC recommends that travelers going to certain areas of India take prescription medicine to prevent malaria. It’s best to consult your healthcare provider to determine the right preventive measures for you.
Travelers’ Diarrhea
Travelers’ diarrhea is a common illness for tourists. Here are some tips to minimize the risk:
Avoid drinking unfiltered water and use caution when eating uncooked foods. Street food is delicious, but be careful if you have a sensitive stomach!
Wash fruits and vegetables in clean water before eating.
Avoid ice as it may be made from unclean water.
By taking these simple precautions, you can enjoy your trip without worrying too much about health concerns.
